Sound suddenly stopped working - Win 7 / Chrome

  1. Hello. Several weeks ago I started getting a bunch of popups and new tabs trying to get me to update/install new software such as codec pack, video player, Windows drivers, and FLV Player. After Googling around I decided I should remove "media player" (or something like that) from startup. I think I did this with MSConfig. Anyway - then my sound quit working across the computer and browsers (Chrome & IE). I know nothing about drivers, sound cards, etc. Any thoughts?
P.S. Broni (from here on Techspot) helped me get rid of all the popup malware. :)

Check in your control panel. Under devices. See if their is a yellow exclamation mark under sound devices. If so you may need to reinstall your sound drivers.
