Spyware problem: 'Spyware.Cyberlog-X'

Hi,

My machine has been infected by Vundo and other trojans. I keep getting a popup from my system tray saying "System Alert: Malware threats" You computer has been infected with a black door Trojan ..."

and getting popups saying

"Your system is probably infected with latest version of Spyware.Cyberlog-X" ..

I am currently installing Adaware (free edition) in the hope that it will clean up things. I will be posting the HJT logs soon here.

In the meanwhile, are there any other suggestions as to how to tackle this nuisance?

Thanks in advance,
Neo

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Very Important: Before deciding whether you should clean or reformat your system, go and read this thread HERE and decide what it is you want to do.

If after reading the above, you wish to clean your system, do the following.

Go and read the Viruses/Spyware/Malware, preliminary removal instructions. Follow all the instructions exactly.

Post fresh HJT, AVG Antispyware and Combofix logs as Attachments into this thread, only after doing the above.

Also, let me know the results of the Panda Antirootkit scan.

you can try manual vundo removal. manual only sounds complicated, but actually you simply find the malicious files and delete them by your self instead of running anti spyware to find and delete those files for you. of course anti spyware, anti virus and firewall are needed to keep a computer safe

LuckyM:

neo2007 should not try any manual removal methods at this stage, as we don`t yet know exactly what infections are present.

Also, vundo comes in such a wide variety of variants, he might remove some and still have others.

It is important, he follows the instructions I gave him.

Regards Howard :)
