Wait a minute, if the deal gets blocked then Office Depot still gets 250 million?

Yeah, and this isn't even that much. When AT&T attempted to to buy T-Mobile, they promised to pay $4 billion if regulators did not approve the buy. And the regulators did NOT approve it. :)

Wow Office Depot not doing so well for Staples to buy them out. So Office Depot had purchased OfficeMax now Staples buys out Office Depot. Really not many of these type of store chains left.
  6. Didn't Office Depot already merge with Office Max which is why there is Office Max stores and not Office Depot. At least that is the case in my area in central Texas.

So if Staples does buy Office Depot then what happens to Office Max stores? In my area, Staples left to another town and Office Depot closed and Office Max stayed open.
  7. It's actually the opposite. office depot bought/ acquired office max. Office max and office depot stores started to close down but more office max rather than office depot. Soon there will be no office maxes and if this goes through than it happen to OD.
