start menu problems

  1. hey all, my first post. My start menu doesn't have anything in it besides the stuff above programs(the spot where you can drag and drop stuff). Programs, Settings, Run, Find, Shutdown, everything is missing. I can still click on it but only the things i said up top are avaliable. something else strange is also happening and i'm not sure if it's related or not but i mine as well state it anyways, ^^: the text size of my web browser (Internet Explorer) keeps changing to the largest size it can. again, i'm not sure if thats connected to my main problem, the start menu issue, but its always worth noting. so if anyone could give me a hand with this i'd be sooo happy!

I feel like a jack *** now... i ctrl+alt+delete restarted my comp, and bingo, the start menu is back up and running. sorry about posting this useless problem... i didn't think restarting would do anything
