Start menu showed off in leaked Windows 9 images

Windows 8 is already able to do that. It annoys me a bit, when people bash on Win 8 without taking the time to get to know it.
Yes I know that but it doesn't really matter if MS decides to make the settings button in Windows 9 hop over to the fullscreen control panel since I don't want anything to do with that part of the OS because thats part of the reason why I still use Win7. I just don't want to give MS any of my money for an OS that is a step backwards when it comes to a desktop OS (unless maybe if you have a touchscreen which I don't have). I use Win8 every day at work but there is no reason what so ever for me to "upgrade" from Win7 at home even though I usually do that with every version of Windows from Win 3.11 to 7. Sure I could install a start menu and disable the useless (for me anyways) hot corners and make the computer skip the Metro UI and go directly into desktop mode but why should I have to do all that to turn my OS from a Desktop/Tablet hybrid into the desktop operating system that I would like to buy out of the box...

Am I the only person who prefers the words to icons, I wonder? As someone whose prefereed learning style is verbal I find myself put off by the relentless march towards pretty pictures without descriptions.

Not just the start menu, but the file menus too - the old verb based drop downs were so much neater and more logically organised. I fear it's all style over content.
