start menu

I am running Windows XP Pro with all the latest updates.

The problem I'm having is with the Start Menu crashing the
left pane of the Start menu is black and then the shortcuts on the right
side pane also stop working. For instance if I click on the RUN command when
this happens I get a spurious error message saying 'Windows can not create a
shortcut here, would you like to create one on the Desktop'. the all programs button wont do anything. i dont have any webcam.

now for the problem. many things that go wrong are caused by adware and worms etc. so as the first step go HERE. follow the instruction to the letter. when you download hijack this, be sure to place it in it's own folder within prog files or docs, then change it's name, eg, 'hjt analyser 1991'. then post the log that it will produce.

i dont have any webcam.

1. get the desktop view you wish,
2. click your PrtSc button
3. open your PAINT accessory
4. PASTE into that window
5. Save As ... jpg
