Hi I have the following:
Processor: AMD Athlon XP 2800+
Motherboard: ASROCK K7VM4 (agp 8x)
Bios: AMI Legal BIOS, SMBios 2.3.1 Support
Hard Drive: WB Caviar SE WD1600 -- Western Digital - WD 1600jb - 00GNAO 160gb
I have the Hard Drive plugged into the Primary IDE Connector (IDE1, Blue)
And the CD-Rom plugged into the seconday IDE Connector (IDE2, Black)..
The harddrive has no jumper plug (single master position), and the CD-ROM has the jumper plug selected to SLAVE.
My problem is that my computer wont boot past this error screen.
F2: Setup F11: Boot Menu
Auto Detecting Primary Master - IDE Hard Disk
Auto Detecting Primary Slave - Not Detected
Auto Detecting Secondary Master - Not Detected
Auto Detecting Secondary Slave - ATAPI CDROM
Primary Master 08.02d08 WDC WD1600JB - 00GNAO
Ultra DMA Mode - 2 S.M.A.R.T Capable but disabled
Secondary Slave: OWO1: MATSHI TADVD. Rom SR- 8583A
******* IDE Drives installations error ********
For best reliability & Performance, please change the stand alone slave drive to master. System Halt.
??? What do I do, Ive tried everything.. checked all chords, plugs and jumper points. The Harddrive picture says that by Leaving my HDD without a jumper plug it selects MASTER right? So how do I tell the computer that my HDD is actually master and not slave.?
Ive also had the error where it says
f2: Setup F11: Boot Menu // The computer doesnt load anything then beeps and 30 seconds later this appears... (below)
Sec Master HDD Error
Sec Slave HDD Error
Press F1 to Resume
Searching for boot record from floppy..Not Found
Searching for boot record from SCSI.. Not Found
Then it beeps and says Boot Failure
Insert Boot Diskette in A:
Press any key to when ready..
I inserted the first disk of Windows XP "Boot disk floppy" and nothing happened??? Do I need to upgrade my BIOS? and how/where do I do that..
How do I get my computer running?
