Startup Problems

I'm curently having problems with the startup of my computer. My computer varies when I turn the power on. Sometime when it starts it would boot to the desktop, but recently it just breifly starts (enough to spin the fans) and then immediately shuts off before the post test (no beep codes). I have tried removing the RAM individually to isolate them and I replaced the heatsink in case that was the key but the problem still persists. I really want to see if I could fix the problem before I spend alot on a techie to just tell me it is something simple. The 3 things I think I have limited it to are the power supply, the cpu, and motherboard; though I could still be wrong. I would greatly appreciate any insight on this problem.

My computer details are:

AMD Athelon 64 2.0GHz CPU
1 512Mb PC 3200 RAM
2 1GB PC 2700 RAM (in case anyone is wondering I have used the combination of the 3 sucessfully)
MSI K8T Neo Motherboard

Thanks, I'll give it a shot. Could it be a short in the PSU? Any other insight would be greatly appreciated as well!

Thanks for the tip. Sp far my computer is working fine, but things still have yet to be seen! In any case, thanks again for the advice.
