Startup/Shutdown Sounds Gone?

    I'm new here, and to many things "PC", so forgive me if I sound dumb.

    I just recently reinstalled Win. XP Home - clean install. After I installed my SB Audigy 2 sound card I removed it's silly splash screen from starting up when the PC booted. After I removed, somehow my standard Windows startup and shutdown sounds vanished.
    I already have been through the Control Panel's "Sounds and Audio Devices" settings and it shows them as being there.
    Anyone have any idea of what may have happened? :(

    Have you tried reseting the sound scheme to windows default ?
