Still some viruses?

Hello,
I recently got a virus on my computer which randomly shows popup's that my computer is infected etc. it also said that I should buy something called SoftCop. A antivirus/anti spyware.

I am a complete ***** with everything on a computer but i managed to delete that softcop and now the popups are gone. But i think that there are still some nasty viruses on my com. Could you guys please help me if you got some spare time left ^^ and check the logs.

My computer is completly hooked off the internet so that nothing goes in or out.
I also got these messages in my router : FIREWALL icmp check (1 of 2): Protocol: ICMP Src ip: ***** Dst ip: ****** Type: Destination Unreachable Code: Host Unreacheable

The dst ip is mine cmputer's IP while the Src is new for me. I got a lot more of these messages but then with a different src ip.. i think someone is hacking me or something.. Anyway I attach the logs. (No malwarebyte cause he didn't find anything) and I hope you guys can help me.

When you uninttall AVG, you might see a box labeled something like "Delete items in quarantine?" Select YES

I see Malwarebytes installed on the system but you didn't leave the log. Please update and run a scan with it. Attach the log in your next reply.

Then please Please download ComboFix HERE:

• With ComboFix, at the download window, please rename it to Combo-Fix(.exe) before downloading it.
  
• Please disable all security programs, such as antiviruses, antispywares, and firewalls. Also disable your internet connection.
  
• Run Combo-Fix.exe and follow the prompts.
  (Understand that things like your system clock changing and your desktop disappearing might happen. Do not worry, because all will be restored later.)
• Wait for the scan to be completed.
• If it requires a reboot, please do it.

• After the scan has completed entirely, please attach the log here. The log will be located at C:\ComboFix(.txt)

Notes:

• 
  1.Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
  2. ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making I-E the default browser.
  3. Combofix prevents autorun of ALL CD, floppy and USB devices to assist with malware removal & increase security. If this is an issue or makes it difficult for you -- please tell your helper.
  4. CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.

Then rescan with HijackThis and paste that log in next reply. I'll be able to check the antivirus entries.

I scanned my computer and it removed some nasty things.

Judging by the deleted files in Combofix, you had a lot of malware! It's a pretty significant amount. What did you scan with to remove all of this? This is not my language but I can recognize some of the malware names and there were many, many different infections.

It appears that you have run Combofix numerous times:

Running Combofix without instructions to do so and guidance while using it is likened to "performing open heart surgery on yourself."

Please disable CCleaner while we're cleaning. You have it set to auto-start.

P2P or 'file sharing: P2P Warning:

I notice that you have Bit Torrent and Limewire which are both P2P programs.
P2P (person to person) programs are also called 'file sharing' programs.
In earlier computer days, these programs did not have much threat. But as they progressed, so did the dangers of using them. For that reason, we do not permit discussion of this type of program, not do we support it. The exception is to suggest you uninstall and P2P programs for the following reasons:

• As long as you are using file sharing networks and programs which are from sources that are not documented, you cannot verity that a download is legitimate.
• Malware writers use these program to include malicious content.
• Fie sharing is usually unmonitored and there is a danger that your private files might be accessed.
• The'sharing' also includes malware that the shared system has on it.
• Files that are illegal can be spread through file sharing.

Please read the information on P2P Warning to help you better understand these dangers.

If you choose not to uninstall these programs, please do not use them while we are cleaning. I notice you also have Globally Open ports for torrent and torrent2. This is like leaving your front door open to almost anyone who wants to come in!

Did you have Firefox at one time? I don't see it on the system but you have a hidden key for the .NET Framework Assistant for Firefox.

I'm going to ask someone to look at all of the deletions in Combofix. They may need to help me write code for their removal.

Thank you for the reply, I was quite shocked myself when I saw that many things on combofix.because I never really felt that I had any problems.

Yes, this is a different language because my default language is dutch.
About you saying that I used Combofix before, I haven't. Yesterday was the first time I ran that program.

i thought combofix removed the things? if not then I will perform a full scan with Avast, if it is ok ?

I removed Limewire from my computer some days before and I will do that with Bittorent.
I downloaded yesterday Firefox + Comodo firewall before I went on the internet, so about the key, that can be right I guess.

I'll have to check into why there are 4 different dates showing for Combofix.

I haven't heard anything yet about the Combofix deletions- but being the weekend, I though it might take a couple of days.

Did you notice my question asking you what you had used to remove the malware? We're not finished quite yet- I'll have you run an online AV scan as well as another cleaning program. But we have to wait to see if CFScript is needed for the Combofix deletions.

I'd suggest changing passwords to all accounts with sensitive information just in case any has been compromised.

Chap, someone ran Combofix on those dates and didn't deal with the deletions so they added up.

Run Eset NOD32 Online AntiVirus Scanner HERE

Note: You will need to use Internet Explorer for this scan.

• Tick the box next to YES, I accept the Terms of Use.
• Click Start
• When asked, allow the Active X control to install
• Disable your current Antivirus software. You can usually do this with its Notification Tray icon near the clock.
• Click Start
• Make sure that the option "Remove found threats" is Unchecked, and the option "Scan unwanted applications" is checked
• Click Scan
• Wait for the scan to finish
• Re-enable your Antivirus software.
• A logfile is created and located at C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt. Please include this on your post.

Please attach log from the Eset scan.

Rescan with HijackThis and paste in new log.

Chap, did you realize that you pasted in only a part of the HijackThis log?

What I'd like to do is have you uninstall Combofix, then install an English and scan again:

Start> Run> type in Combofix /Uninstall (note space after the x before the /)

Please download ComboFix HERE:

• With ComboFix, at the download window, please rename it to Combo-Fix(.exe) before downloading it.
  
• Please disable all security programs, such as antiviruses, antispywares, and firewalls. Also disable your internet connection.
  
• Run Combo-Fix.exe and follow the prompts.
  (Understand that things like your system clock changing and your desktop disappearing might happen. Do not worry, because all will be restored later.)
• Wait for the scan to be completed.
• If it requires a reboot, please do it.

• After the scan has completed entirely, please post the log here. The log will be located at C:\ComboFix(.txt)

Notes:

• 
  1.Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
  2. ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making I-E the default browser.
  3. Combofix prevents autorun of ALL CD, floppy and USB devices to assist with malware removal & increase security. If this is an issue or makes it difficult for you -- please tell your helper.

Yes, there wasn't enough space for the log so I posted in another reply but that had to be checked by a moderator. Its online now, one post above you.

About the combofix. I uninstalled it and downloaded it again from the link you gave me but there wasn't a choice of language and the program started in my default language (Dutch).
Anyway here is to log, I hope you can make something out of it.

That appears to be a better scan with Combofix.

About the 'hacking' you mentioned: if you have a firewall and if you have it logging- that is, keeping a record of the scans that it blocked, you will see multiple attempts to access. Scans are sent out in the thousands, looking for unprotected systems. As long as the firewall blocks them, you're fine. It's just normal internet traffic.

If you see an attempt to access the internet from within the system, if you have not given that program or application to access the internet and if the firewall is bi-directional, that is listening at both incoming and outgoing ports, then the firewall will block it.

IF you do not know the source of an out-going attempt to access, that's one you need tot ry and identify either using a lookup utility or the IP. Let's try to find something on what you noted:

Protocol: ICMP Src ip: ***** Dst ip: ****** Type: Destination Unreachable Code: Host Unreacheable

ICMP is the Internet Control Message Protocol
Src ip is the source IP>> this is where it originated.
Dst ip is the Destination IP>> this is what the source wants to reach.
Destination Unreachable could mean that the time allowed for this was exceeded and 'timed out'.

And example of this type of transction is:
It can be the networked computers' operating systems trying to send error messages— for instance, that a requested service is not available or that a host or router could not be reached.

This is different from 'transport' protocol like TCP and UDP. This protocol is not used to send and receive data between end systems. It is usually not used directly by user network applications, with some notable exceptions being the ping tool and traceroute.

Maybe you tried to 'ping' a site and got the message above- the host wasn't available in the time to reach.

Thank you for your help. I will keep my computer as clean as possible by scanning weekly and by updating a lot. I will read the article about the Firewall later when i have more time, My router still got a lot of those messages and I checked on of the IP adresses with the link you gave me and It was a telephone company somewhere in the US. But as you said, this is normal internet traffic so I have no worries .

My computer is a bit faster then normal, especially with the starting of normal programs. However the startup of the computer (when you turn on the computer) is a bit slower as usual. But I think that, it is caused by some new programs I installed like Comodo and SuperAntiSpyware.

Chap you can remove the cleaning tools:

Uninstall ComboFix.exe And all Backups of the files it deleted

• Click START then RUN
• Now type Combofix /Uninstall in the runbox and click OK. Note the space between the X and the U, it needs to be there.
  
  

Remove all of the tools we used and the files and folders they created

• DownloadOTCleanIt by OldTimer
• Save it to your Desktop.
• Double click OTCleanIt.exe.
• Click the CleanUp! button.
• If you are prompted to Reboot during the cleanup, select Yes.

The tool will delete itself once it finishes.

If you are prompted to Reboot during the cleanup, select Yes.

You should now set a new Restore Point to prevent infection from any previous Restore Points. The easiest and safest way to do this is:

• Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools and click "System Restore".
• Choose the radio button marked "Create a Restore Point" on the first screen then click "Next". Give the Restore Point a name then click "Create". The new Restore Point will be stamped with the current date and time. Keep a log of this so you can find it easily should you need to use System Restore.
• Go to "Disk Cleanup" which can be found by going to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools.
• Click "OK" to select the partition or drive you desire.
• Click the "More Options" Tab.
• Click "Clean Up" in the System Restore section to remove all previous Restore Points except the newly created one. More details and screenshots for Disk Cleanup in Windows Vista can be found here.

Be sure to Empty the Recycle Bin

4.Remove Temporary Internet Files regularly: Use

• ATF Cleaner by Atribune or
• TFC

5. Use an AntiVirus Software(only one)

• This can save you a lot of trouble with malware in the future.It should be kept updated and useed to scan regularly.

6.Use a good, bi-directional firewall(one software firewall)

7.Consider these programs for Extra Security

• Spywareblaster:
• SpywareBlaster protects against bad ActiveX. It places kill bits to stop bad Active X controls from being installed. Remember to update it regularly.
• IE/Spyad
• This places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
• MVPS Hosts files This replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your computer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer.
• Google Toolbar Get the free google toolbar to help stop pop up windows.
