  1. hi all,
i tried to run bit defender. malfunctioned. had to stop in the middle.
windows restarted. user (me) am the admin with no psw. instead of win welcome screen and listing all names, asked me to enter psw. i entered none and xp started to logging me off and back on, asking for psw again. started in safe mode. went into a blank screen and nothing would show up. did a repair install. seems to be ok. but many programs are missing their familiar icon. when i click, for example on avg, ewido, or any other program, it says windows can't find the path or the file or you do not have appropriate permission to access them. can somebody please tell me how i can run these and hundred other programs?

Can you access your programmes from the start menu?

Try reinstalling one or to programmes and see if they work ok.

If not, you might be looking at backing up your important data and doing a reformat.

    Regards Howard :)

currupt MBR ???? I have asked about this here to do a MBR swap but no answer I have tried some 3rd party repair softs that kinda worked, but if you lost this can try F8 and last known good condition or repair MBR with the install disc
is bit defender a AV?? I hate AV"s
