System Back Up

By brown squeak
Feb 28, 2007
  1. Hi,

I am currently running XP Home and need to do a full system back up before installing Vista Ultimate. I have been told to go to programs/accessories/system tools/back up but there is no back up option in there. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong please.

    Thanks

Windows Backup is part of XP Pro and not automatically installed for Home editions.

When someone tells you to do a backup, it simply means copying your important files (docs, pictures, music etc) onto another media or storage device (another hdd/partition, cd/dvds etc) so just incase you loose them whilst upgrading it.

Common places of storage of the above files are in:
    My documents/Pictures/Music
    Download folder
    Desktop etc.
