Help appeal from the "tech"nically challenged:)

Yesterday when I turned my laptop on, I received the following message:

"Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt.
    System32\Drivers\Ntfs.sys
You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows set up using the original set up CD Rom
select 'r' at the first screen to start repair"

Okay..I figure I can just try to system restore or recovery the laptop, BUT I forgot to save a year's worth of pics that are only on my laptop.

I called tech support (Toshiba) and they reccomended taking the laptop to a computer repair store....to have them use an external drive to get the pics out. Course this means changing all my passwords on many sites and who knows how much money.

Is this something I can fix myself? I have a desktop..any way to use the drive on there?

THANKS for the help. It's appreciated!

You can get a fairly cheap usb adapter that will work with your laptop hard drive.
