Hi all,

I have been having this recurring BSOD. I have tried everything short of tossing Windows out the window. Re-formatted..re-installed...checked that all connections are well seated. Ran windows memory diagnostic which came up clean with no errors. This error comes up at random times the computer could be sitting idle when this event takes place, it also happens everytime I run housecall, the scan will be almost complete then bingo...around and around we go. Anyhoo I would greatly appreciate it if any of you experts out there can give me some insight into this. Here is what the event viewer shows. I have also attached the most recent minidump file. Spec's are in profile. Thanks for all your input

Kind Regards,
Sarcha

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

It`s difficult to be sure from just one minidump. You minidump crashes at vsmon.sys. This is a driver for your Zonealarm firewall.

Uninstall Zonealarm, and install the free Sygate firewall instead.

You can get the Sygate firewall from HERE

If you still have problems after that. Zip 5 or 6 minidumps together, and post them here.

Thanks for the reply Howard. LOL..you will not believe this...the crashes were occurring with Sygate [which I prefer].Seems all went downhill after installing XPSP2, tried to remove it, no go. Re-installed XP, installed Sygate version 5.6.0.2808 still getting the BSOD's, I uninstalled this version as there are issues with XP, tried to install an older version 5.5.2710, it would not install as there was one darn file that would not leave - Error 1312 Cannot create the directory C:\Windows\Installer\[DE187864-A381-4602-8823-1024D4CE4370] A file with this name already exists.Rename or remove the file and retry.

I renamed it, removed it and kicked the crap out of it, went into the registry and exported it out of the country but the darn thing kept coming back.Just like that crazy cat.

I guess since I have reformatted that file will now be long gone so maybe I will give it a go with the older version of Sygate.

Thanks.

I`m running the current Sygate on XP sp1 and have had no problems at all.

Unfortunately I can`t install SP2 cause something about my system doesn`t like it.

Regards Howard :) :)
