Inactive System infected: ZeroAccess Rootkit Activity 4 and TidServ Activity 2

I just tried to restart PC in Safe Mode with networking but it had a problem with the user profiles and consequently, the access provided was bare minimum, only about three programs were available. So I shut it down, will wait for a few minutes and will try again. I'll keep you posted.

If you still can't do it, restart in Safe Mode, copy Combofix log to USB flash drive, move it to the computer you're posting from and post it from there.

Safe mode w/ networking is too limited at this time. The usb flash drive won't work bec I'm posting from my cell phone and my phone doesn't have USB port.

I'm afraid you'll need another working computer to fix this issue unless you have Vista DVD.

I'm pretty sure I have vista dvd even though HP told me I didn't need it since it is saved in another partition of the PC, or something like that. Also, I have another working PC but it's in the same network (wireless) as the infected one. Could the other PC get infected through the wireless network? Both PC's share some docs but I haven't updated the shared information in months.

No.

You can use that another working computer and USB flash drive but (IMPORTANT!) to protect good computer....
Install Panda USB Vaccine, or BitDefender’s USB Immunizer on your computer to protect it from any infected USB device.
Make sure not to share any files between both computers using network.
USB flash drive is the only safe way.

As for Vista DVD it must be full version of Vista not some reinstallation DVD.

Oh, great! I'm glad to hear that. So, while I turn the clean PC on, let me go check the vista DVD I have. Be right back.

The vista DVD I have is labeled Reinstallation System and was sent to me by Hewlett Packard. It's Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bits.

I'm typing this from the clean computer. I'll now go ahead and download here Panda USB vaccine.

What can I do so as not to share any files between these two computers using network?

That won't do.

I told you. USB flash drive.
Make sure you read my previous reply how to immunize good computer and a flash drive.

Thanks so much for your reply. And so sorry for overlooking things or reading the info so quickly but this issue has me completely on edge.

I'm just about to download and install Panda on my computer and I read is about vaccinating the PC and the usb drives.

As soon as I'm done with that, I'll proceed with the usb flash drive to eventually post that ComboFix log.

I'll be done in the next few minutes, I suppose.

As for the configuration settings for the Panda USB vaccine, one of the options says "Automatically vaccinate any new inserted USB key". Shall I put a check mark there or not?

Sorry it maybe a dumb question but I really have no clue about it.

Thanks for understanding.

Still about Panda, I just vaccinated this clean computer but in regards to the usb drive vaccination, it says "Select an USB drive" but I don't have any options highlighted or available to indicate.

Actually don't worry about it.
The most important is your computer being vaccinated.

Sorry... my bad again... I thought it was referring to a usb port... Call me crazy, but I just thought that the software could vaccinate ports! Yes, I think I went nuts already...

My apologies... one more time.

I'll be back in 10 or 15 minutes. Will you be back then or when are you planning to be done for for the day? Thanks.

All right, Broni. Thanks so much for all your help. Tomorrow I'll be available all morning and afternoon till 4pm to work on this. Have a great night.

Hi Broni,

Thanks for letting me know you're back this morning. So, here we go again, I'm now ready to deal with this nightmare and have already saved a copy of the ComboFix log report to the flash drive. Now, how shall I proceed when using the flash drive in this clean computer? First, shall I just plug in the usb flash drive in the clean pc and then I will need to indicate the drive on Panda software? Or how does it work to make sure I don't contaminate this clean pc?

Thanks, as always.

Your computer is vaccinated already so you can safely plug flash drive in and post Combofix log.
