Music and video streaming services are more popular now than ever. Unfortunately, they’re also among the top data plan killers each month and no doubt are responsible for the majority of data overage fees.

Announced earlier this year, T-Mobile’s Music Freedom program was a breath of fresh air as it allowed the carrier’s subscribers to stream an unlimited amount of music from select providers without counting against their monthly data allotment.

iHeartRadio, iTunes Radio, Spotify, Rhapsody and Pandora were some of the bigger names that were initially included in the program but even still, some major players were left out.

T-Mobile on Monday bolstered the offering with the addition of 14 new services that will no longer count against data plans. The newcomers, in no particular order, include Google Play Music, Xbox Music, SoundCloud, RadioTunes, Digitally Imported, Fit Radio, Fresca Radio, JAZZRADIO, Live365, Mad Genius Radio, radioPup, Radio.com, ROCKRADIO and Saavn.

These join the 13 other services that are already part of the Music Freedom program including Rhapsody, Pandora, AccuRadio, Black Planet, Grooveshark, iHeartRadio, iTunes Radio, Samsung Milk Music, Radio Paradise, Rdio, Slacker, Songza and Spotify.

Since the program’s inception, T-Mobile claims the number of customers streaming music each day has increased nearly 300 percent. On average, users are streaming 66 million songs each day, or about 200 terabytes of data.

With figures like these, it’s no wonder wireless carriers are clamoring for additional spectrum.
