Taking laptop apart

  1. I have taken the screws out and have seperated the case. Problem is the is a flat cable that attaches the screen to the video port and the MOBO how do these seperate to take unit fully a part. Pics or illustrations would be great. Visual learner LOL thanks Bill

    Each laptop is differently constructed. What is the brand and model of what you are attempting to disassemble?

    Have you searched for a service manual on the Dell website? I found a manual for my thinkpad which basically told a service engineer how to completely disassemble it.

    Bill,
    there is a small plastic ring or retainer that needs to be carefully lifted just enough to release the flat cables. To reassemble, insert the flat cable and push down the plastic retainer
