task manager disappeared

windows xp home edition version 2002 service pack 2. ctrl+alt+del or right clicking on task bar does not bring up task manager. I get no messages error or otherwise. There are no administrator problems. I run spydoctor and Ad-Aware on a regular basis. Can anyone help please?

I'd suggest browsing the Security and the Web forum. To be safe I'd look at How to remove Cool2Search. There are some things than can get by some of the adaware. You need to run HijackThis.
