Task manager won`t open.

ive had the same problem
i run a mcafee scan, it tracked three
it was a multipied
it deleted one and i quarenteened the other 2 coz it couldnt delete em
i tried to see if limewire would stay closed, it did!
but task manager still will not open
im now doing an avg scan to see if it can delete the other 2

btw ppl
the worm/virus is called : w32/alan.worm!p2p its a b*sterd of a worm

now, a few of my applications dont work because it says i am not connected to the internet

these are:
windows messenger
all versions of msn
remote assistance
mcafee/avg(cant update)
firefox
battlefield
bitlord
and some others,

however IE and limewire work.


i cant understand why.

ive checked internet connection, its perfectly fine

my firewall isnt blockin them

checked that dlls are placed correctly

i run off a netgear wireless connection. the router isnt blocking anything

i can only suspect that its a virus f**cking up my protocool

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

I have moved your posts to it`s own thread. This will save any confusion.

Very Important: Before deciding whether you should clean or reformat your system, go and read this thread HERE and decide what it is you want to do.

If after reading the above, you wish to clean your system, do the following.

Go and read the Viruses/Spyware/Malware, preliminary removal instructions. Follow all the instructions exactly.

Post fresh HJT, AVG Antispyware and Combofix logs as attachments into this thread, only after doing the above.

Also, let me know the results of the AVG Antirootkit scan.
