I have Windows XP SP2 and in task manager I have 6 "svchost.exe" (without quotes) s.

Three of the them are under username "SYSTEM", two of which use about 5 mb of memory each and the other one using about 17.5 mb.

Two of them are under username "NETWORK SERVICE", using about 4 mb each.

The last one is under username "LOCAL SERVICE", using about 4.5 mb each.

This seems like a lot, and it seems more after I have been infected by viruses/trojans four days ago. I am not sure if it really is more though - it just looks like a lot.

Any comments will be appreciated.

That`s normal.

As long as it`s spelt svchost.exe and it`s in the system32 folder. No problem.

If you think you have spyware/viruses go HERE follow the instructions,

and post the three logs (AVG,Combofix and HJT) in the Security forum.

Yes it does sound a lot.My 4 svchost.exes only use 15 Mb.

It depends on what programs your running and how lean your

running your system.

Go to Start\Run\type :msconfig and uncheck everything except Firewall and AV

You can also optimize your services.Do a search on 'Tweak Xp services' or some such.
