Temperature alert and shutdown

  1. my profile specs have changed, my imedia pb died , but thats not the issue, My now mobo is microstar 6738 , and the cpu is AMD athlon xp 2400+ ive added a program pc4 alert , whats a good safe max temp to set the alert at ? currently the the cpu is running at between 49 and 51 degrees celcius ?

    I would set it at 60 or just above. That temp won't hurt anything but over the long haul it will shorten the life of the processor. You want to know about temperature issues before it gets to the point where the system starts running flaky
