  1. Hi I recently encountered with a problem. I just wanted to uninstall a program and when the add or Remove programs dialog box come up it said wait while the listed programs will be populated. But the programs never show up. Even after 15 minutes. I see only the white dialog box. And recently my system freezes up and I have to unplug the computer to shoot it down. I did a system restore It seems it helped with the froze-ups but I am still unable to uninstall programs. Does anyone have an idea what is happening?

Any opinion will be much-appreciated thank you Laszlo

It sounds as if XP has become very corrupted. I think your best solution is to back all the data you need up onto cd's or another hard drive and then format and do a fresh install of XP on your current hard drive.

If you haven`t already solved the problem, try this-

    1] Start > Run > type cmd > ok
Now at the Command Prompt type REGSVR32 APPWIZ.CPL click OK

2] If this doesn't work, check to see if the APPWIZ.CPL component is missing. If it is, try running SFC (System File Checker) with the /SCANNOW option (i.e. type SFC /SCANNOW). You may be asked to provide the XP CD-ROM.
