The Asus a7v 600-x and CPU upgrade

Anyways i wanna get the new AMD 64bit 3000ghz 800fsp for the ASUS A7V
600-X. anyways i wanna know how the maximum CPU usage this motherboard can use? and if not the 64bit processor whats a good motherboard to use?

Your board will not accept Athlon64s. If you want to keep that board, your fastest CPU upgrade would be the AthlonXP 3200+ provided you have PC3200 Ram & that you can actually find one of those CPUs.

Otherwise if you're going the Athlon64 route, you can either get a cheap but longevity limited Socket-754 CPU & motherboard or go with a slightly more expensive Socket-939 Athlon64 & motherboard.

Get something in the 3000+/3500+ area, that's where you have the best bang for the buck. As for motherboards, it's really down to brand preference & features as the performance won't really change from one motherboard to another.
