The Tech Exchange - Usage Rules and Conditions

By Julio Franco
Aug 5, 2010
  1. The Tech Exchange is governed by a special policy to protect both buyers and sellers from abuse. However, realize that all sales, purchases or trades are made strictly at your own risk. TechSpot will not be held liable for the loss of goods or monies under any circumstances.

    Rules
Failure to comply with any of the following may result in the deletion of your post and a sanction to your account:

    • You must provide a detailed description and picture(s) of goods.
    • You must specify if there is a geographic limitation tied to your offer or request.
    • No non-tech or non-electronics-related items. Take your "antique" recliner to Craigslist.
    • No "make me an offer" threads. State the price or item you want, but that it's negotiable.

    • No spam. This includes referral links, auction listings or your own personal merchant site.
    • No illegal items, such as warez or other stolen merchandise.
    • No online game accounts or any other virtual content that isn't explicitly owned by you.

    Advice
Follow these tips to minimize the chance of being burned.

Only make deals with people you trust. Members are required to have at least 60 posts and a 90-day membership before accessing The Tech Exchange, allowing you to view their record in the TechSpot community – please do so. Being the Web-savvy folks you are, we assume you've purchased things from eBay and know how to spot a shady deal. When in doubt, feel free to private message moderators or the site’s staff for a second opinion.

We suggest sellers wait until receiving a payment before shipping an item. The use of PayPal as a method of payment is encouraged.

    Julio,
Are the posting limitations for the original poster only, or potential buyers as well?

I think a buyer should be able to participate if they don't have 60 posts or 90 days, but should not be able to initiate a sale.

At least for now we want these barriers so we can keep things tidy and under control for your own benefit, even if that means making a sale is a tad more difficult. I will bring this up in our next staff meeting for discussion nonetheless, thanks for the suggestion.
