Does a snuggleberry taste any better?

I am glad you feel a tiny bit better, but I would like to be up front about things. I will never admit or condone terrorism. You can call it terrorism (you have) but as I said in the end of my last post. One man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter. Which means it’s a matter of perspective. Call it whatever you want, it happened and labeling it chocolate ice cream doesn’t change the taste it leaves in your mouth. I admit we have our failings, more often than I would like, let’s just leave it at that. You are right though, they do not teach about our BS past how they should, and I doubt many places on this planet teach their country has F’ed up and here is why and how so we may learn from it. I am a student of history and firmly believe in the mantra “Those who do not know their history are doomed to repeat it.” It is why empires fall and we have the atrocities of the past still happening. It’s the same book, just a different cover.

You still have not said where you are from. Not where you necessarily reside now. Something in your past helped give you this world view, as my past influenced me. I did grow up during the cold war and the era of the Big Bad Commies. However, I do not look down my nose at those nations currently or when they were communist. I was lucky enough to miss the Red Scare period. I hate to have to correct you, but Japan does have a blue water Navy. I have been on the JDS Kahima (just to say hi and get a tour while it was in Pearl Harbor). I really want to say which branch I was; pretty sure you can figure it out, since you don’t share where you are from. In all honesty, I actually admire Japan. It has a very interesting culture and past beyond WWII. How far they have come and their desire to succeed is admirable and worth mentioning. If only other countries in the world would follow that example (mine included) we would be better off. Just like them, people can be forgiven for the past, which does not erase it or condone what was done. It is the continued mistakes that need to be stopped.

I can with much conviction say that the majority of my country is ignorant. Not because they are made to be like the people of Iran, but because they choose to be and that is sad. Knowledge is power and power is freedom for the individual. By foregoing knowledge you consign yourself to repeating the mistakes of the past. It’s a damn shame. However, in this day and age, we are bombarded with BS and as you pointed out, from our own media. You must admit, it happens everywhere. It is again up to each of us to sift through the garbage for the truth. It is out there, but one must be willing to spend time in finding it. You bring up the election hacks and how we tell others not to hack. Again I can say with honesty, we do not routinely hack offensively. There are nations that do and you mention two. I have seen it from the Iraqis (pre 2nd Iraq war), the Iranians, the Russians, the Chinese, the Koreans, even the Israelis. Believe what you want, but it has been done. Government sponsored or not, a hack attempt is a hack attempt. It happens from within as much as from without. Please tell me one government we have overthrown for power though. Pretty sure Libya blew up in Hillary’s face. Hell the whole “Arab Spring” failed, if there was a plan to begin with. Obviously piss poor planning lead to piss poor results. As to Chinese claimed waters. If you believe they are not being aggressive and destabilizing the region, you are either sympathetic to their cause or one of them. I am not going to say we are a stabilizing force in the matter, but something has to be said and done. I am sure you have spent hours looking at Google Earth of the islands in question and come to the conclusion they are making military bases, like I have. I could be wrong, but only time will tell. The THAAD system is exactly as it says… ANTI-missile. It is not an offensive weapon. The South Koreans have every right to put it in place. Would you prefer they bought similar hardware from China or Russia? Would that make it Okay in your book? That is the only way it is directly affecting China, they didn’t buy it from them. Unless you have the stand point that it would intercept Chinese missiles against the Koreans or Japanese. Which, quickly running the scenarios in my head, would be Chinese aggression. Sorry bud, I believe you have been fed some propaganda there.

Thank you for the long life wishes. I wish the same. I am thankful you didn’t wish me live in interesting times. The US is not a beacon of hope. The US is whatever you want it to be. It can be your greatest adventure or your worst nightmare. It is what you make of it. As to our democracy being a landmark achievement…. It’s been done before and will be done better later. I am in the Now and as long as it still functions and is not in complete chaos, I am ok.

I need not look far to find people who think we have done any good in the ME. We should have left Iraq to Sadam, at least it was under someone’s control. He wasn’t the shining example of a dictator unless you are on his side, but he did keep his country under control. As for Afghanistan, we were trying to get rid of Al-Qaida, which too blew up in our face. I remember every detail about 9/11 as I was serving at the time. It started off good, continues to go bad.

How do we admit there is a problem? Well, it starts in school. If we didn’t have so much liberal indoc going on and common core crap trying to teach kids lies and touchy feely nonsense, then maybe they would learn this stuff. If people didn’t care so much about their material world and about their past, we wouldn’t constantly make the same mistakes. If they actually gave 2 f***s about life other than their own, they maybe some good would come out. Me throwing lead to and fro wouldn’t get my point across. They need to listen and not while they bleed out.

If you want to go back in time and thank the British and Chinese for the industrial revolution, you would be waiting a long time. China did not contribute to the industrial revolution. They did however, contribute much more before that, and I am more than willing to say thank you. But since you want to go back in time, may as well thank the first human beings for using their brains for something other than a target and speaking with one another to create society.

Agree, Switzerland does have an interesting model, but they too are not without their faults. They accepted millions from the Nazi’s. What I mean here is, no one is perfect, but we can all work on it.

Happy New Year to you too dude.

I was almost done until I saw more posts. If you believe the biggest troop build up in Europe since WWII, you are reading and listening to just as much propaganda as we are. We have the lowest strength military since post WWII! Pretty damn sure the Cold War saw the largest build up. We have closed bases in Germany and the UK this year! Sorry man, but you need to look elsewhere for your info.

I think we've had enough off topic and ad hominem comments for this thread.

I have 2 wishes:

1 - That all americans were like you. (With some exceptions, for diversity and they rock)
2 - That I could like your post 3 times more lol.

-------------

1 - Excellent you study history. Agreed with you on what you said there.
2 - Agreed on Japan.
3 - Not hacking offensively is something I very much doubt. If by hacks things like backdoors are included.
4 - The Chinese expansion is aggressive, but it has a reason. Seen John Pilgers The Coming War On China? Basically, China is surrounded by US allies and military bases (some 400) and so has to push outward to have a chance of defence. But there's much more to it. Thus I don't dispute that they're building military bases and whatever else; I would too lol.
5 - THAAD doesn't need to be offensive. It simply tips the balance away from China, which thereby naturally encourages them to tip the balance back in their favor. Just like with nukes. You have nukes? Then I must have nukes too, etc. And China (apparently) uses mainly ballistic missiles - exactly what THAAD counters. Even the Koreans don't want THAAD there though. Hence why China has also raised its nuclear alert level to "High", from "Low". Which is worrying. I don't want the Koreans to buy anything from anyone. I want everyone to cool the f*k down and not get us closer to WW3 or other jazz.
6 - Agreed on Saddam and on school indoc. Have you read Noam Chomsky's Manufacturing Consent?

Good post. Now I just wanna know how we make more people like you lmfao xD. I luv ya.

What about Iraq? Libya? Cambodia? Laos? Guatemala? When does the killing stop.
Well there's 6 billion of us now. Which is likely about 4 billion too many. So, "not too soon, I hope".

I don't care about the rest of the argument your all having, you are all just cherry-picking history. But seriously, what happened in your life for you to end up at this statement?

@Loafer Learn how to make a post correctly, then I'll think about answering you.

Here's a clue, your answer, question, or statement, needs to be OUTSIDE the quote box.
