So the neocons are at it again. Beating the drums of war against a country that has 3 bases outside of their own country vs. USA with 100's. Who is the empire here? The Russia today is not the Soviet Russia of yesteryear. This isn't the Red Army with millions of men. Russia's entire economy is smaller than New York City. Are the neocons that desperate to start WW3 with a country that has all the nukes it does???

You know, nuclear winter might be the solution we've been needing to combat overpopulation... Or have you forgotten we've go a lot of nukes too?

That notwithstanding, Russia seems to be taking a similar approach to military structure as we are. Smaller battalions of ground troupes, but higher performance aircraft and missiles. Their latest airplane: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sukhoi_PAK_FA points in that direction.

As for them coming to the aid of the Syrian government against the rebels, that's really a stroke of good fortune. The US arming the rebels would produce a victor of unknown allegiance, and could lead to another army of individuals still pissed off about the crusades shouting, "death to America"..

The way we're approaching the conflict now seems to be the most sensible. "Let the Russians kill everyone, and let God sort them out".

The only drawback I can see, is that we're letting the Russians test out their newest weapons platforms in the process.

A bitterly cold Winter which Stalin was smart enough to exploit and the fat between Hitler's ears played starring roles in defeating Germany on the Eastern Front which made it much easier for the Allied forces to defeat Germany on the Western Front.

Well, sort of, but not really. Hitler "out blitzed his kreig" (*), in a manner of speaking. A Russian winter is a Russian winter. If you're stupid enough to send troupes into one without blankets, your army deserves what it gets.

The constant bombing of German factories, in Germany, by our B-17's, cut off Hitler's supply lines, and pretty much stranded the German army without logistic support.

(*) "Out blitzed his kreig", is a euphemism for another euphemism, "biting off more than you can chew".

Russia was certainly not interested in saving European countries from the Nazis. At first it was primarily interested in saving Russia, but by the end of WW2 it was interested in grabbing as much of other people's lands to rule over with an iron fist as the West would allow. This turned out to be more than just the Communist share of the booty agreed to in German/Soviet pact. Ruling any country by Communist dictatorship is not saving it.

The ugliest reality of all is, Stalin murdered more Russians, than Hitler did Jews.

Once upon a time, before today's arrested development youth learned that you can "compose a song", by simply repeating the "N word" and the "F word", over and over, Al Stewart composed a superb song about the Nazi invasion of Russia. It tells pretty much the whole story in 8 minutes.

Despite what Hillary says, Russia isn't as big of a threat as she makes them out to be, otherwise she wouldn't have sold them 20% of our uranium. Oh wait, a new email just dropped from Wikileaks incriminating Hillary again... Better point the finger at Putin, and threaten their infrastructure.
