Hi.Is it possible to upgrade my video chip by external means from 8mb to 32 mb.
My laptop is an TP21-2647.Thanks

Hate to dissappoint you, but if you physically want to add mem to you graphics chip, it's a lost cause. I have a thinkpad too, and it seems to me that your box uses shared memory, hence maybe it's doable after all. I have never tried to accomplish anything like that before; I tried tampering with AGP aperture size, but our Thinkpads (got R31) do not have AGP bus.

Anyway, good luck! I will keep watching to see if I can get something out of it, if you don't mind :)

What do you mean by "external means"?

No, you can't add dedicated video memory. Yes, you may be able to change the size of the shared memory (in BIOS setup). Why would you want to do this, escapes me though. Giving away system RAM for almost nonexistent increase in video performance. Going over 8MB of video RAM is useful only if you have a monster card that can do true 3D or if you plan on using video resolutions over 1600x1200.

I'm sorry friend, but your laptop might just not be enough... that's the nature of this business I'm afraid.
