Hi, Anyone know of a way to make a working copy of an installed program in XP ? I can't find my oriiginal installation CD. The only place I can find the entire program is in Add/Remove Programs & cannot copy from there. Thanks Much!

You have two options -

1.Find the CD.
2.Make an image of the whole drive, using Acronis,Paragon or Norton.
3.Er,that`s it.

if your lucky you can try to hunt down all related files dll .dat what ever was loaded on original machine
I have done this twice it is some work
go to you existing file folder and copy over to another machine
go to registery and fine all related files for program
copy these over to reg of other machine
try to run the app
sometimes you will be prompted to load a missing file
go back fine that or those files and copy over
the problem is most newer apps use machine ID code when that are loaded
when you use a diff machine the code changes and it will ask for the reg keys again or just not run it may even lock up the other machine
this is for anti-piracy
I would not play with it anymore not worth the time
if you still have your reg keys should always keep a txt of all your keys
you can dwnload the version and reload on new machine ,again I stress this can be construed as piracy as the license is for 1 seat most of the time
most of my software uses activation the few that does not uses machine ID code cannot be transfered
good luck
