I have a Toshiba Satellite 1135-S1552.

I have purchased a VGA-to-TV cable and have attached it to both my laptop and TV, but nothing happens.

I have a Fn+F5 button on my keyboard that is supposed to change the monitors, but no output is shown on the TV when I press the buttons.

Does anyone know if what I am doing is possible? And if so, are there any specific settings I need to make before doing so.

Please let me know.

Ted

You have to reboot the computer while the TV is on in order to make it recognise the attached TV set. The TV channel has to be set to AV.

You may have to enable the secondary display in Display Properties.

TV output devoices are usually unable to display resolutions above 800x600. You should try things out with 640x480.

I tried what you said: Changed my settings to 640x480, but all that happens in my TV flickers, and then goes back to normal. This happens when I restart the laptop with the TV connected to it.

It will not display my laptop's desktop.

Are there any other settings that I must change in order to get this to work?

Did you look around in the display properties for a way to enable the VGA display?
Are you using Windows generic display drivers or those supplied by Toshiba?
