Toshiba SD M-1502 troubleshooting

  1. My Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-M1502 won't read DVDs. OS is MS XP Pro SP2. CDs run fine, I've uninstalled & reinstalled, still nothing.

    do the dvds adhere to the dvd+r or dvd-r standard?

    Right now, I'm assuming that it's a registry problem, & I don't think the DVD flavor is a factor. Downloaded a new decoder & will try that next.

    oh, i wouldn't rule out the +/- possibility. many older drives (and some never ones) have troubles reading certain types of discs, as well as user-burned ones as well.

    Toshiba gone

    In this case, that wasn't an issue. However, after a very disappointing two days dealing w/ Toshiba lack of tech support, I pulled the drive & installed a new one. NOT a Toshiba.
