Toshiba Tekra 8000 harddrives

  1. Anyone here know if/where Toshiba sell harddrives for this aging notebook (PIII/500 from 1999), or if not, what maximum size drive can it take, and if it needs some converter.

It currently has a 6GB disk in it. Its not my laptop, BTW, its a friends with an aversion to spending money :)

Toshibas Detail Specs Guide shows the Tecra 8000 hard drive interface as ATA-4, with the option to purchase up to a 14Gb harddrive stock. So I think its a fairly safe bet your friend can upgrade to any ATA-4 hard drive. Epinions.com has ATA-4 drives up to 60GB in size, for a hefty premium of course.
