Traditionally - How long until first stepping revision

  1. Greets,

I am interested in trading in my 3GHZ P4 (fun thermals!) for a Nehalem once it is released. However, I know that the initial releases of chips tend to be buggy as all getout. Does anyone KNOW, traditionally, how long after Intel releases a new chip, that they then come out with their first revised stepping?

    Thanks

    Sigh

Tmagic - while I appreciate your response, that was not what I had asked.

I had asked traditionally how long it takes Intel to release a first stepping following introduction of a new chip.

If anyone knows how long this has taken in the past, it would be appreciated.

My response is called a "bump"... You could probably get a faster, more accurate answer by contacting Intel directly
