Trojan Zlob?

  1. Hi there, my mum's pc is infected with a trojan called zlob. Does anyone know how worried we need to be?

I am trying to get rid of it, though I am going into this blind, so to speak. I've never really had experience with virus like this and am reading up stuff from all over the place and am confused!!

Any help would be appreciated, I'm hoping to sort this out before I go away on Thursday!

    Cheers,
    Aimsxxx

Edit:Rather than copying and pasting the instructions, it would be better to provide a link such as this.

    Zlob H removal instructions.

That way all the links within the instructions on the Symantec site will work.

    Thanks Howard :)

    Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Download the Microsoft malicious software removal tool from HERE.

Boot into safe mode. See how HERE. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial61.html

Turn off system restore.(XP/ME only) See how HERE. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial56.html

Run the tool and it should get rid of zlob. Reboot into normal mode, then follow the instructions below.

Once done, go HERE and follow the instructions exactly.

Post a fresh HJT log as an attachment, only after doing the above.

    Regards Howard

Thanks Howard and Tedster, managed to get rid of the zlob trojan. It now appears that the pc has another trojan called trojan.small.

Am so tempted to hurl the pc through a window!! Though I guess it keeps me out of trouble!

Do you think that there is something else opening some kind of backdoor allowing these trojans to infect mum's pc? If so do you have any idea what I should be looking for?
