trouble starting up after installation of new ram

  1. I have a Dell with an intell board, there are 4 memory slots one currently filled with a 184 pin DDR 333 512 mb ram. i just installed another 184 pin DDR 333 512 mb stick of ram, when i restarted a screen popped up saying dual channel memory requires the same DIMM acrossed all channels "press any key to continue". then it goes to a blank screen and an under score _ blinks. I tried taking the ram out and going back to what was already in there and it just said ram decreased and the underscore was blinking.

i read the guide and realize that i doubt the sticks are the same brand and that could be the problem, but when i take the second stick out the computer still wont reboot

are you sure that you placed the memory in the right slot? for dual channel dopards two 512 sticks it would be slot 1 and slot 3.
