Hey all, lately I've had problems with my laptop.

    Its a IBM Thinkpad T30.

When I plug it into the wall, and turn it on, it will run for a bit then start blinking to battery and then back to AC power.

Sometimes it even completely shuts off my laptop.

Any suggestions on how to stop this, or fix it?

(Hope this is the right place to put this.)

Have you tried an alternative AC adapter or battery?
  3. nat6138 Newcomer, in training

Yes, I've tried a different AC cord. But not a battery since they're a little expensive.

You've tried a different cord... but what about the actual adapter?

Also, are you always plugging the machine into the same power outlet when this happens?

Adapter means the brick and such right?

Yes, I've tried all kinds of outlets. Same results.

Think I should try removing the battery and seeing what happens?

Adapter means the brick and such right? >> yes.

Think I should try removing the battery and seeing what happens? >> worth a go.

Yeah, I've replaced the adapter. With no go. Still does it.

I'll try the battery thing. Thanks.

The actual internal power supply could be faulty... if so then you need to get it repaired... which if out of warranty will be more than a new machine, probably. In fact, I'd be looking at cheap Thinkpads right now really.

Yeah, if my internal power supply is finally going out, I'll need to get a new laptop.

But, with the battery out it hasn't done the flickering thing.

It has done the shutting off thing though.

you have a dead battery in your laptop. normally, the battery led shouldn't blinking. but, your notebook will work without battery, don't worry :)
