I have XP home and I got 28 viruses that 2 up to date virus scanners could not delete or disinfect. I have decided to wipe the hard drive.

I put in my xp home disk, and when I went to start...it loaded right up to xp. I went into bios and changed my boot sequence...but it will not boot from the cd. So I try to boot from A:...nothing.

I have tried to reset everything, but when I try to boot up, it says windows shut down improperly. I can choose to start in safe mode, normally, and last known good configuration. No matter what I choose, it will start to load and then freeze.

ANy ideas how I can get something booted so I can wipe and reinstall my software?

As vegasgmc said, when booting from a windows xp disk it tell you at one point to 'press any key to boot from cd'. Have you seen this when booting?

Also, are you using an OEM CD?
