I was wondering what I should look for when buying a tv tuner for a non hd monitor.

an internal pci or pci express tuner

The best ones to get are on www.hauppauge.com site.. I use them since 2004 no major problems PQ has be on the high side.

Now if you need pvr Windows software to have fun..

Something you should always look for in a tuner card is hardware video compression.
ATSC/HDTV support is something to consider if you want the thing to be future-proof.
