Just download the bios update to your working computer, and put it on a bootCD ) or floppy if floppy works

But I do not recommend this

The Repair option (and hard drive test) is better

The Repair option appears to go into a loop and when you say the Hard Drive Test, do you mean the diagnostics test that's running now?

What diagnostic test running now ?
You have not mentioned that.

But to answer you, the diagnostic test that you can download for your hard drive (Western Digital, Maxtor ? ...)

OK, thank you. (I mentioned the diagnostics test in message #22)

Funnily enough, it's testing the hard drive this very moment.

Oh I see #22 post now - sorry

But according to the Hard Drive manufacture, you must use their disk to fully confirm (well this is for warranty reasons really)

Well it's either the new DVD R/W drive compatability issue (ie unplug it and test again

or

You have accidently left one data cable out or slightly out (ie replug the cables back in)

or

The DVD and Hard Drive are not set correctly (Master Slave or Cable Select - please check the jumper on the end of any ATA drive)

or

The bios needs re-configuring (that F2 message - inside bios is there an enable ATA or Sata)
