Unable to read F:/ Drive Message

A few months ago I had two USB drives plugged into my computer along with an external hard-drive. Ever since then every time I try to install a program off of the internet the message "Unable to Read F Drive" pops up and the installation quits. I tried calling Dell but my warranty is up and it'll cost 40 dollars for them to fix. This has not especially been a problem but now I cannot install a program I need for school, and all the things in the external hard-drive are being displayed as H drive, which has wreaked havoc on my iTunes library. If anyone knows a quick way to dispose of this problem it would be greatly appreciated.
