Unable to uninstall Symantec AV Client 8.x

  1. When I try removing it through the Add/Remove programs, it goes through the sequnce of removing it, but it still remains. Tried the Norton Removal Tool - it does not load on the machine (server is running Server 2000). Contacted Symantec and they gave me a link that instructed me to do many registry changes, which I did. I also deleted all files and folders associated with Symantec as well. After making the changes, the AV client still appears in the Add/Remove programs, except now "Remove" is greyed out. I need to upgrade this system with a more current version of AV software, but can't since a "Legacy Symantec product is still installed" Anyone have any experience with this? Any help would be appreciated.
