Unread mail counter out of sync. (on XP Welcome Screen)

  1. Environment:
    Windows XP SP2
MS Outlook 2003 with several mail accounts (1 POP, 2 HTTP)
MSN Messenger 7.0 with Plus! Extention

    Symptom:
Formerly I setup the Messenger Plus!'s POP mail notifier binding my Gmail account. But the notifier counts my Gmail messages without reverse when I READ these mails, and it leaves a "X unread mail" on the Login Screen (or Welcome Screen). I checked everywhere in my Outlook and I'm sure of that there is no other unread mail messages, but there still a incorrect counter lied there, then I de-setup the Plus!'s notifier, but no affects to the counter, it appears like an HIDDEN MAIL somewhere only the counter knows.

    Restrict:
I don't wanna use Third Party for some private reasons. And I'm sure of that It could be fixed by using "regedit" or such tools brought by the system.

Thx to any one would supply me related informations.
