Unto the Evil, the first premium (paid) DLC for Doom, is now available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Naturally, Bethesda has published a launch trailer showcasing what the $14.99 multiplayer expansion has to offer gamers.

If you like fast-paced shooters, Doom’s multiplayer offering will be right up your alley.

The expansion delivers three new multiplayer maps – Cataclysm, Offering and Ritual – as well as a new weapon, the UAC EMG Pistol, new equipment in the Kinetic Mine and the ability to play as the Harvester demon. Other extras include new armor sets, colors, patterns, taunts and even a new hack module.

As I mentioned last month, what’s most intriguing about the update is a feature called PartyPlay. With it, if just one person in your party has purchased the DLC, everyone gets to play the new maps. For those that regularly play with the same group of friends, this could save everyone a lot of money (especially if the group splits the cost evenly).

In celebration of the DLC’s arrival, Bethesda is also implementing Double XP this weekend (it technically started yesterday) which runs through August 8 at 12pm EDT.

The multiplayer is weak. I wish they added more to the single player like enemies that come from somewhere other than thin air. Doom 3 was a little scary with enemies coming from all.directions, but Doom isn't scary at all.

Not sure why Bethesda is even bothering. DOOM was not a dark horse hit of 2016 because of the multiplayer.

Played the multiplayer for the first time yesterday (after playing the beta briefly). Underpowered rockets. Thats what I took away. Since when did a Doom game have underpowered rockets. And no deathmatch mode (to be added later apparently). Anyway, I wont be playing any more of it. there are plenty of other decent multiplayer online games I own that I don't play enough - Doom is at the bottom of that list.

the single player is awesome though.

The DLC maps are much better than the maps that shipped with the game. I don't know why these companies always do the same routine. The gameplay is very smooth with Gsync though. I haven't played much of the single player campaign.
