Unwanted blue sidebar

    Hi,
    A couple of weeks ago I logged on to my computer and found that a 2 inch blue side bar was attached to my desktop screen. On the sidebar are three seperate topics: 1,Folder Tasks, 2,Other places and 3,Details. Now, when I click on the windows explorer icon the egg timer pops up but after it clears there is no further progress. I can access explorer by clicking on my documents in the 'Other Places' on the side bar. I just want the irritateing sidebar deleted. How do I do this?
