unwanted hibernate/black screen

My computer will hibernate/black screen without warning. I have run AD-Aware, Ccleaner and AVG virus software with no results. When checking the event viewer in computer manager I see a DCOM error at the time of the "malfunction. Also I hane run speedfan but do not understand the report. Any suggestions would be appreciated. "without warning" means what? When you power on the machine, it restores the exact state before the hibernation?

Could it be that you are accidentally pressing a "hibernate" button on your keyboard?

no the screen goes black and the light on the case and on the monitor goes from green to amber happens most often when computer is unattended; previously when mouse moved or any key pressed comp rebooted; now must turn it off, pressing amber button and it starts but usually turns off during reboot, after reboot from minutes to hours. Ned
ps I am currently using my networked laptop that works fine.

Maybe I'm using the wrong terminology.

The screen goes black. It can happen while the computer is being used or unattended. The only way to restart the computer is to manually turn it off and then restart it using the on/off button. The computer then reboots but may shut down during reboot or later from minutesto hours. Hope my descripion is clear.
