  1. Hi everyone:

I got a speed upgrade from my ISP, and it was supposed to increase my download speeds to about 1m/sec. Now its about from 160 KB/s to around 148 KB/s! can someone help me? is it a problem with my comp, or is sbc being crappy?

sorry i yelled, i am very upset.

Edit: It's ok, yelling removed -- Nodsu

    What was your previous speed?

1 MB/sec is 8 Mbps, which is unusually high for DSL providers. I suspect you upgraded from something like 768 Kbps to 1.5Mbps and were expecting 1.5 MB/sec.

You see, Mbps and MB/sec are two very different things.

    In reality, 1.5 Mbps is about 185 KB/sec (MB x 8 = Mbps)

When upgrading speed you will experiance a speed degrade for about 1 to 2 weeks.

Your just gonna have to live through it but the payoff is worth it. :)

BTW in your profile it says

Yeah I guessedon socket type, i was a n00b! I will change that. I upgraded the speed a while ago, like around 3 months ago, I dont see why it is so f***ing slow.

EDIT: previous speed was 160 Kb/sec
