Upgraded ISP, but speed is slower!!!!!!!!!

  1. Hi everyone:

    I got a speed upgrade from my ISP, and it was supposed to increase my download speeds to about 1m/sec. Now its about from 160 KB/s to around 148 KB/s! can someone help me? is it a problem with my comp, or is sbc being crappy?

    What was your previous speed?

    1 MB/sec is 8 Mbps, which is unusually high for DSL providers. I suspect you upgraded from something like 768 Kbps to 1.5Mbps and were expecting 1.5 MB/sec.

    You see, Mbps and MB/sec are two very different things.

    In reality, 1.5 Mbps is about 185 KB/sec (MB x 8 = Mbps)

    When upgrading speed you will experiance a speed degrade for about 1 to 2 weeks.

    Your just gonna have to live through it but the payoff is worth it. :)

    Yeah I guessedon socket type, i was a n00b! I will change that. I upgraded the speed a while ago, like around 3 months ago, I dont see why it is so f***ing slow.


    EDIT: previous speed was 160 Kb/sec

    you can always use TCP optimizer (freeware) to optimize your connections.
