Upgrading processor on toshiba 8100 to 3.6 ghz

i recently bought a toshiba tecra 8100 off a friend for 50 bucks. the thing runs xp well, but dvd playback is a little choppy. ive also obtained a new intel p4 3.6 ghz processor. two questions: (1.) will the tecra run a processor this advanced and (2.) how do i go about installing the processor? also, some other tips on improving dvd playback would be welcome.

thanks

zack

Hello! Welcome to TechSpot!

P4 technology will not work in this notebook, unless I'm really mistaken,
it's a PIII top cpu would be a 1.1mhz Socket 370.
More ram will help with dvd playback.
Be sure to get all the latest drivers, updates & patches.
