Upgrading ultra ATA/100 to ATA/133

It depends on whether your ATA controller supports ATA133.
You can still get an ATA133 drive and it will run at ATA100 speeds.

Mind you that with a single drive there is absolutely no speed difference between ATA100/133 and even if you compare ATA66/ATA133 with two drives the speed diference is minimal.

The interface speed means nothing, seek time is everything.

if you're going to upgrade like that you might as well go for a SATA drive. it will be worth buying an extra controller if nessecary, now and in the future.
