UPS and Powerchute--necessary?

  1. Reason Newcomer, in training

    I have an APC Back-UPS 600.
    I have not installed the powerchute software, I have only configured the UPS in Windows XP Pro. Windows XP detects the UPS and I can configure it to shut down my comp after 2 min if the power goes out. Is it OK to just use XP to manage the UPS, or should i installed Power Chute?
