usb boot up

  1. having a big problem..i have a packard bell laptop with a broken cd rom. i need to restore windows xp from a recovery cd but can`t. even the bios won`t support usb bootup.

    Um,could you replace the cd rom ?

    i`ve been told that it would cost 300 quid to replace the cd rom on my laptop..all the drivers and stuff are on a partition (hidden). surely ther must be some way to install windows xp other then cd rom
