  1. Does anyone know exactly what the pins are that fit into the MB jumpers and USB/Firewire headers? I need to fabricate some with wire leads but don't know what standard, spacing, crimps, etc. these are called and what they use.

AFAIK there are no standards apart from wire colours. The spacing and pin size are usually the same used all over the board. E.g. the common 100mil-spaced pins or some other "standard" plug.

It really makes no difference what connector you use on the board side.

Thanks - that's exactly what I was looking for - the spacing. Now I know what to google.
